Shadhinota Photo Contest 2018

One word. Several interpretations. To one person, independence can mean something whereas to another person, independence can mean something else entirely. In March 1971, 66 million people of East Pakistan agreed on one idea of independence- to end oppression and live with our own identity, as Bangladeshis. The formation of Bangladesh, in exchange for the invaluable sacrifice of 3 million martyrs and millions more wronged mothers and sisters, brought forth more variations of the word “Independence”.

So what is independence to you? Is it the ability to speak in your own language? Is it being able to read whatever book you want? Or is it the ability to good in your society. Express what independence means to you as Durnibar presents “Shadhinota Dibosh Photography Contest”!

Here are the event details:

Registration Process:
STEP 1: You must submit the registration fee of BDT 100 via bKash at 01842584134 (personal account) and text your full name along with your email address and the bKash transaction info instantly after your transaction is done.

STEP 2: You shall receive a confirmation SMS to your number with a certain registration code within 24 hours of your payment.

STEP 3: Upload your photo at this link: https://goo.gl/forms/ZNi9lowbYYdq4cG03, with your registration code and your name.

Rules concerning the photograph:
1) There is no age limit.
2) Photograph can be taken using any device.
3) Photograph must be original and taken by you.
4) A description of the photograph and its meaning can be given. The description cannot be more than 15 words.
5) The photograph has to be taken recently and for the purpose of this competition only.
6) Your photograph can be moderately edited.
For example, you may use a black and white filter. You may not however, photoshop yourself fighting in a battlefield in 1971.
7) The concept of the pictures and the message they have to convey is:
“What Independence means to you”
(You as in the participants, not Durnibar!)

 Each person can share only one photo.

Judgement Criteria: These are the bases on which your photograph shall be judged upon and the importance of each criteria is also presented as a percentage.

The criteria are:
1) Authenticity (25%): Your photo must be original and authentic. As listed, it must be recent and must have your face in it.

2) Relevance (25%): Your photograph must be related to the concept “What Independence means to you”. So you cannot take an irrelevant picture such as one of a towel.

3) Innovation (20%): Your photo must be innovative and must stand out from the crowd. Use your description to show us how innovative and deep your picture is!

4) Competency (10%): Your photo has to be competent with all other submissions.

5) Audience Impact (20%): After you submit your desired photo to Durnibar, we’ll post it from our Facebook page! This 20% will be judged upon how many reactions, shares and comments that post will get. So make sure to keep and eye out for your photo on our page and be sure to tag your friends in it telling them to share it with the privacy set to “Public”.

After submission, your photos will be uploaded on Facebook via our Facebook page. This will be on a first come first serve basis. So make sure you submit your picture as soon as you can to get more likes, shares and reactions!
